Based on a true story of courage, “I Want to Make You Mine” by London-based duo, The Lyricals discusses a real-life tale of band member Dino got with his lover a few years prior to the release of the song. They were friends, but then they became more!
“[The song] is about those times where, you know you have feelings for a friend but you don’t know what they’re thinking,” shared the band. “It’s based on the real-life story of how band member Dino got together with his partner two years ago, when he was caught in the same situation. In essence, it’s a song about courage. To have the courage to cross the delicate line between friendship and love.”
The alternative rock tune features a catchy guitar riff, speech-like vocals that don’t waver, along with a steady drum bass that keeps your head bobbing throughout the song. “I Want to Make You Mine” carries an electronic element that features synths in the midst of it that keeps it in the back of your head long after you hit pause.
With many songs in the past that have been released by the band, “I Want to Make You Mine” seems to be their most meaningful so far. Considering it tells an actual situation that occurred in real life, it is definitely very relatable!
