Boulder, Colorado – Kwolek today releases “Atmosphere,” the lead single from his forthcoming album Reveal. The track, paired with B-side “Zhazh,” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
Some songs aren’t ready until they’re ready. Kwolek began “Atmosphere” in 2016, returned to it for additional vocals in 2023, and finalized the mix only recently. Ten years of lived experience are compressed into four minutes of music that captures the accelerating pace of life — the way time flies by in ways you won’t conceive, then it’s gone.
“Atmosphere” is a reflective, atmospheric piece that balances dreamy textures with emotional weight. The B-side “Zhazh” is a dancey lo-fi synth instrumental originally sketched in 2021, offering a contrasting energetic counterpoint.
Kwolek writes, sings, plays guitar and synths, programs drums, records, mixes and masters, and designs cover art. He grew up making music in New Jersey and was in a band called Lima Research Society. He now lives in Boulder, Colorado, and records mostly in a closet.
Raised on 70s, 80s and 90s alt, glam, disco, new wave, goth, punk, grunge, shoegaze, indie, IDM, soul and pop — with a deep undercurrent of world cinema, internet culture and art — Kwolek’s music carries the DNA of those eras while remaining distinctly personal.
Previous singles have earned praise from Plastic Magazine (“a kaleidoscopic musical experience”) and Obscure Sound (“a grippingly escalating sound” and “a dynamic, emotive success”).
