With a sound that is dripping with 90s grunge and indie, Jonny Corralitos graces the scene again with another EP that delves deep into the artist varied background and colorful palette of skills.

Based in Berkeley, Jonny Corralitos is a singer and songwriter who is on a deep dive into 90s musical tropes with his latest EP World Of Sound, and today’s single ‘Over Before It’s Begun’ is a charismatic taster of what the EP has to offer. The first thing that’s noticeable on ‘Over Before It’s Begun’ is an inherently rhythmic nature that’s tight, and a skeletal arrangement that is so period-correct it will take you right back to 1994.

The song is shock-full of tasteful guitars that carry a little of Corralitos’s folk-hippie roots, yet the tightness of the rhythmic strums that blur the line between electric and acoustic do portray a talented rhythm guitarist effortlessly laying down the chops. Corralitos’s songwriting is lighthearted and whimsical, opting to resort to a major key to portray the futileness of summer flings that are over before they begin, taking temporary heartbreak in a direction that is rarely explored.

World Of Sound is shaping up to be a rather delightful listen if all its songs are as quirky as this one here. A distinctive sound that’s addictive and memorable, Jonny Corralitos’s ‘Over Before It’s Began’ got us waiting for more.
