Luma Fade nails the ethereal, breezy nature of indie pop on their latest drop ‘Quantum Sleep’, the first release from their upcoming studio album, and it got us excited for what more Luma Fade has in store.
Based in Clearwater, Florida, Luma Fade excels in creating the lush, dense, guitar-led atmospheres we hold synonymous with indie pop. Washed out, heavy on reverb, and with a considerable hint of shoegaze in its mix, ‘Quantum Sleep’ is a delightful auditory experience that succeeds in what it sets out to do.
At its heart, ‘Quantum Sleep’ is simplistic, on the fronts of relatively few instruments in the mix, and few chord sequences that hold little to no surprises, making it a rather easy-going song that could have easily been a bland one, if not for Luma Fade’s inspired use of rhythm guitars and atmospherics. The guitars are visceral, and they go perfectly with the song’s deep groove, and the effects on the guitars and the ones utilized in the production of the song help in creating the full picture, a lush one in faded, pastel colors, and bold brush strokes.
Luma Fade’s ‘Quantum Sleep’ is a song that sets out to be a groovy and evocative indie pop cut, and it easily succeeds in doing that. A beautiful listen.
