‘Rosie’ is the latest single by Hannah Robinson and it is an Indie Rock/Alternative Rock tune.
First and foremost, I’d like to highlight the importance of the production, effects, and sound quality of this track. Every element is well-mixed and balanced with its counterparts in a way you wouldn’t expect. From the highly present and powerfully thumping bass to the sweet bright guitars and multi-layered vocals, the track’s mix and master leave nothing to be desired. Let’s not forget how the drums have fine little details every now and then that add some post-rock, shoegaze, and progressive elements to the overall alternative atmosphere.
Moreover, Hannah‘s vocal performance is astonishing on all levels. She reminds me of Lorde‘s Pure Heroine era because of how her main “melody” layer of vocals is deep, dark, and grounded, but don’t be mistaken, she isn’t a one-trick-pony by any means. Next to the main layer of vocals, we have a great deal of backing layers and accents that enrich and deepen the sound so much that you’ll feel like she has backup singers performing with her.
While the guitars are swiftly moving from line to line with ease, we have vocals during the chorus and the higher parts that are laid back and chill in comparison to the deeper-sounding verses. It’s impressive how much Hannah is capable of doing such an emotional delivery while making it seem like an effortless job and not sounding strained or bland for any single note…her style screams pure brilliance.
I’m super excited and enthusiastic about my recent (and super late) discovery of Hannah Robinson. I’m sure eighteen-year-old me would’ve felt like this track made true the dream I had back then of having Lorde Collaborate with a rock band like Arctic Monkeys…except that adult me is enjoying this because of the shoegaze and post-rock touches that are making it more unique and giving Hannah‘s sound the distinction she needs in the crowded music industry today. I recommend this song for you because of Hannah‘s strong and well-defined sense of personality and her clear musical fingerprint.
