Brazil-born, but making his way to his new home city of London, TC TENET is a songwriter and producer making music from his garden shed. After years of playing across a host of bands and projects, 2023 saw TC leap to solo artistry, designing a new sound coined alt-rock 2.0. Nearly two years on from his debut single ‘Catch Me If I Fall’, TC has now revealed his first EP, Breakaway.
Opening up with the raw and bouncy sounds of ‘The Guru’, TC sets out his love for alternative music, placing them in a modern context and rooting down in the energised and unfiltered values at the root of alt-rock.
‘Animals’ is next to play, bringing intricate riffs and tone design alongside a poetic lyrical structure. It bridges the fierceness of the first song with the floating feelings of the title track, ‘Breakaway’ steadily emerging from the undergrowth and blooming into a gorgeously orchestrated blend of emotion and colour.
‘Let It Shine’ showcases TC’s piano structure, with a slow-burning feeling at the centre that gives it dramatic cinema. It expands into a blend of the decades, influences from across the spectrum tugging at your heartstrings. After that momentous moment, the fifth and final track ‘Take It All’ soars into a climactic endpoint. Across the project, TC is thoughtful and intricate, perfectly selecting his music to tell a wider emotive story.
