‘This Room’ starts then goes somewhere completely different, taking us all by sweet surprise. A masterful piece of lo-fi, Me & Munich’s latest song is catchy, inventive, and quite quirky.

A band hailing from Aarhus, Denmark, Me & Munich blend the electrifying sounds of lo-fi, alternative, and garage rock on their music, and particularly on ‘This Room’ their third single from their upcoming third studio album. Tightly structured around its fast paced and energetic groove, the single is almost hypnotic in its relentless drive and forward momentum.

From its seasick introduction strums to the stark shift into the beat and the song’s groove, the song begins with a delightful surprise. The twisted electric guitar melody, played aggressively on a wahwah’d guitar, tremolo picked, is one of the song’s most outstanding features, while the song’s sweet and lightly melancholic chord progressions and simple melodies are efficient and impactful. The production is also stunning. A garage rock song through and through, with vividly colored and visceral, dissonant interludes, ‘This Room’ rushes forward with such a unique and memorable character.

Full of delightful ideas and outstanding execution, the third Me & Munich single is a terrific one that left me hyped and with a huge smile on my face. A fantastic teaser from one gifted group of alternative rockers that got me impatient for their upcoming studio album.
