A stunning performance was presented by the Egyptian Heavy Metal band Vyrus; which was held on Friday, September 13th at The Tap Maadi. Founded in the late 1990s, Vyrus is one of the earliest Thrash and Heavy Metal bands; rocking the Egyptian Metal scene with their amazing performance, the play covers legendary bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Nirvana, and Savatage.

The gig brought back those nostalgic 90s feelings, in which the four members of the band; Mostafa Mito (bass/backing vocals), Tamer Younes (guitarist/backing vocal), Patrick Khalil (drummer), and Amr Medhat (vocalist/guitarist) rocked the stage with their Metallica and more tribute.
The band started with the Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”, and it brought something truly special to the audience. Energy lit up the place when Vyrus’ vocalist, Amr Medhat, kept the authentic stage sense by growling the James Hetfield’s “yeaaaaah”. Everything was kept pretty much old school for these guys, playing “For whom the Bell Tolls”, “The Unforgiven”, and “Master of Puppets”.

After that, they introduced some of Megadeth hit songs like “Tornado of Souls”, “Trust” and “Symphony of Destruction”. Not only this, but the band surprised the audience by playing one of their original songs for the first time, which is called “Outta My Head”; it was a great composition actually, soon to be published as stated by the band.

It was followed by Tamer Younes’ awesome guitar playing during Queen’s masterpiece “Bohemian Rhapsody”; it was six minutes of pure magic with the audience singing along. Last but not least, the place started to “Smell Like Teen Spirit”! Yes, you guessed that right, the band ended this beautiful night with Nirvana’s hit song and it was impressive.

To conclude, Vyrus is one of the bands that will make you experience something truly mesmerizing and genuine; whether it was their original music or a tribute. My recommendation would be to not miss the opportunity to attend this top-rated tribute act at the nearest time possible.
