Glasgow-based Alejandro Estrada released “Verso Melódico” on February 15th, the first single from his upcoming Spanish-language EP under the name “Estrada Music Project”. Estrada wrote the song in Venezuela during a rough period just before leaving the country.

blankHe works 9 to 5 in a hospital and writes music in the evenings, and this track captures what he describes as the end of a chapter, dealing with a difficult relationship and the weight of leaving everything behind. The most personal element here is the guitar work, which was composed and recorded by his son. That detail alone shifts the song from being just a solo reflection into something that feels like a family document, both looking backward and forward at the same time.

“Verso Melódico” is an honest expression of the complexities of love and the cycles we are locked into. Alejandro Estrada explores a relatable theme that we can all resonate with, which is how our past, present, and future collide. Our past experiences shape our day-to-day lives, but our choices define who we are. Choosing to move forward and accepting the end of a difficult chapter is something we have a chance to do every day. The musicality and lyricism of the track convey that beautifully.

“Verso Melódico” works because it doesn’t overcomplicate what it’s trying to say. The stripped-back production lets the emotional weight of the story come through without getting in its own way. Given the circumstances behind it, the fact that Estrada’s son is part of the recording adds a layer of meaning that’s hard to fake. It’s a strong introduction to what the rest of the EP might offer.
