Music narrates the stories of our everyday lives. By exploring each track you hear, you might find connections to your own experiences or those of someone close to you. As Alwyn Morrison described, “Chained” stems from a personal experience, yet I feel a strong connection to it as well. Let’s take a closer look below… Who knows? It might resonate with you too!

Hailing from the vibrant city of New York, the talented solo artist Alwyn Morrison has unveiled his latest single, “Chained,” in collaboration with his teammate Michael Ales. Upon listening to the track, I was truly impressed by Alwyn’s vocal style. It took me back two decades to an era filled with remarkable alternative bands. In fact, some of the songs evoke a blend of various influences, and I experienced that same sensation with “Chained.” Additionally, I appreciated how Alwyn Morrison infused his unique character into the overall sound.

The emotive and powerful vocals in this track are truly captivating, serving as a key reason to appreciate and enjoy it so much. In fact, I believe this is what makes it a personal anthem for all of us.“It is the most personal song I have ever written. I don’t even remember writing it, to be honest. It felt like I had those words stuck inside of me for so long. I wrote the lyrics on a flight to Europe, and I just know that I fell asleep and woke up, and the song was there. It communicated something I hadn’t been able to say or explain to anyone in so many years.”Alwyn Morrison elaborated “As deeply personal as the song is to me, I believe the song is universally relatable, as we all sometimes feel bound to certain feelings, life experiences, or people.”

The musical composition is truly impressive. I can see that there’s ample expertise involved in crafting the music to complement his vocal style seamlessly. I particularly enjoyed the smooth guitars and how well they align with the rhythm and beats provided by the bass and drums. In my opinion, Alwyn Morrison is not only one of my favorite alternative rock artists of 2025 so far, but I also believe we are witnessing the emergence of a new rock star. Cheers to that!
