Yeah! The New York rockers Takeover are back with another energetic and emotive single, Start N’ Stop. The track is highly influenced by Lou Reed’s rock and roll vibes. Let’s delve deeper below.

Last year, I had the privilege of speaking with Alex, the bassist and songwriter for Takeover. Our conversation primarily revolved around their single, “Wait.” Before diving into more details about “Start N’ Stop,” I want to share that another interview is on the horizon. Exciting, right?

I immediately pick up on the authentic retro-rock vibes in this piece. As I stated previously, I don’t perceive Lou Reed’s influences in this track, but the band addressed this in their press release, stating, “’Sweet Jane’ by Lou Reed (Rock N Roll Animal live version).”

I was truly captivated by the emotive and powerful vocals, which blend seamlessly with the music. The guitars contribute a remarkable rock vibe that I really admire. The tightness of the riffs and the stunning lead guitar work are particularly impressive. I must also highlight the bass and drums, as they did an excellent job of keeping the tune cohesive and maintaining the perfect atmosphere throughout.

The song “Start N’ Stop” by Takeover explores the uncertainty at the beginning of a relationship, questioning whether it could be serious or just a fling, capturing the “will they, won’t they” dynamic. The lyrics cleverly capture the uncertainty and excitement of new love, with playful exchanges and heartfelt confessions woven throughout the track. The band expertly balances upbeat tempos with introspective moments, creating a dynamic listening experience that mirrors the emotional highs and lows of early romance. The chorus is particularly catchy, making it easy for listeners to sing along and get lost in the infectious energy of the song. Overall, “Start N’ Stop” is a testament to Takeover‘s ability to blend nostalgia with fresh, modern sounds, keeping their music both relatable and timeless.
