An orchestral reimagining of an icon that will forever define the colorful otherness of the wild 80s, Belouis Some’s Imagination is, by all accounts, a classic. Receiving this brand new and sweeping orchestral guise has breathed a whole new and different kind of life into an immortal song from the 80s.

80s hits are transformed on the album Orchestral Eighties, receiving their entirely new and shiny orchestral sheens, one by one, each week. Featuring artists such as Rick Springfield, Cutting Crew, and today’s Belouis Some, the songs getting the treatment are some of the most defining songs of that decade. ‘Imagination’ has always been an exceedingly melodic song that lives on the grandiosity of its open-ended chords and engaging arrangement, as well as on the flamboyance of its vocal star Belouis Some who sang it on his 1988 album Some People.

It is incredibly refreshing listening to the surreal strings and their larger-than-life reverbs as they swirl around the all-too-familiar bass line, in all its anthemic pop appeal. The extension added, diving deeper on the earworm of a hook, is also a most welcome addition. The drums are more lush with reverbs and the strings are way too glamorous and grand, providing this version with a truly fantastical scale.

Belouis Some’s ‘Imagination’ has always been larger than life. With its boomy bass, confident grooves, iconic funk guitar line, and terrific vocals. With this treatment, the song has grown exponentially more showy, present, and charismatic. All for the better.
