Hazy, Woozy, melodic, and gentle, Lou Z’s ‘Noises of the Sea’ is a soothing and enriching musical experience that’s equally approachable and outstanding in its simplistic core and outward-looking arrangements.
From its array of glistening synth melodies to its immediately gripping guitar solo and to its shape-shifting structure, ‘Noises of the Sea’ is a unique and engaging piece of fresh alternative rock from Danish singer and songwriter Lou Z, based in Copenhagen. The second single leading to his debut studio album, ‘Noises of the Sea’ is showing quite a lot of promise.
Lyrical, instrumental, and textural promises, the song is bountiful with things to pay close attention to, all leading up to quite positive observations. The melodies played by synths, Lou Z, or by the spectral oohs play off each other rather nicely, creating a lush sonic painting that is then colored by the song’s instrumental landscape that is more acoustic than electronic with punchy beats, buoyant bass, and a modal and breezy solo that would fit very well on a downtempo breakdown by Khruangbin.
‘Noises of the Sea’ has quite a memorable composition that’s loaded with melancholy and movement with an addictive and energized hook. Lou Z’s approachable and restrained vocals are easy to fall for, and his long-winded and patient delivery makes for an efficient and gripping pace to this single. Now he got us impatient for that debut album.
