Heavily influenced by spiritual themes, Montreal-based musician Nyki Lindsay King penned his latest hard-rock release “Running out of Time” about the corruption this world is facing and how we need to make a change quickly since we’re “running out of time”. King mentions that people are now following the crowd instead of the teaching of Jesus Christ.
“I guess at this point in my life looking back … I was raised really poor and sometimes went to
elementary school with no lunch on top of being a foster child in several homes,” shared the musician. “In my teens, I got into alcohol and drugs and was severely addicted for 30 years… by the help of God and grace I’m sober 13 years and free from no longer being out of control.”
King actually took the stage by storm at only 7 years old, when he performed for the very first-time tunes of Funk, Soul, R&B, and Reggae under the guidance of his father. His main influences include Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, Chester Bennington, Finger Eleven, and Three Days Grace.
The hard rock anthem opens up with the soft electric guitar strums before the beat kicks in and has you headbanging along. King’s vocals are raspy and straightforward, before he starts yelling on the track near its end that compliments the tune so much. The drum kick is explosive during the chorus, and the song as a whole was recorded by Engineer Bobby John.
The overall message of the song is very moral, and as it is coupled with a full sound that fills your ears with rock music, the message is definitely conveyed eloquently.
