PHOENIX, AZ — Independent lo-fi rock project Victims of the New Math has officially announced the global release of its latest full-length album, The Stories That You Weave. Released on May 1, 2026, the 12-track record serves as a rich chronicle of memory and perspective, delivering a deeply personal yet striking sonic journey.

Self-recorded and produced, the album showcases a diverse array of exciting sounds that transition seamlessly across sub-genres. The tracklist ranges from the classic indie-rock drive of “You’re a Star” to the hazy, delicate textures of the dreamy indie-pop track “Believe in Me”. Listeners will also experience the raw, gritty urgency of sixties garage rock on “It’s You That Wanted More,” contrasted alongside the diary-like reflection of the acoustic, travel-journal ballad “Time Flies”.
Lyrically, the album addresses universal human complexities. The themes cover the fleeting nature of fame, love, deep-seated loss, and the persistent internal fight to maintain an optimistic outlook in an increasingly challenging world. To bring a newfound clarity and warmth to the record, the tracks were professionally mastered by acclaimed producer and engineer Todd Tobias, allowing the intimate, homegrown layers to breathe beautifully.

Victims of the New Math is the long-standing solo project and performing name for multi-instrumentalist Thomas Young, who provides all vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, and drums. Young has been honing his craft and releasing a homegrown version of indie and lo-fi rock for over 20 years.
The project originally began as a collaborative duo between Thomas and his brother Joe, driven by a mutual desire to capture the vibrant AM radio rock sounds of their childhood. Uninterested in playing cover songs, Thomas immediately focused his efforts on original songwriting—a pursuit he has kept up almost continuously ever since.
Over the past 15 years, across multiple albums and EPs, Victims of the New Math has resisted mainstream trends by integrating an eclectic blend of Glam rock, New Wave, psychedelic rock, lo-fi, and indie rock. The resulting signature sound delivers tight, vintage, riff-driven rock and lush lo-fi melodies that feel both nostalgic and completely new.
