It has been said by the man himself. ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ is a ferocious and impossible-to-pin-down new song by Paul Cafcae. A brutal blend of punk and blues, ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ is paradoxically both 60s and hyper-futuristic, in equal measures.

Put together by Paul Cafcae of Kitchener, Canada, ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ is heavy with societal commentary, rampaging drums, blinding noise, and a character that just seems too venomous to be friends with, yet too exceptional to look away from. In its core, ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ is extremely straightforward in its leanings towards punk, but it is in the song’s affinity for the blues that we meet the song’s whimsical and unusual heart.

The major blues riff that is delivered via the song’s breakneck pace, buried underneath walls of cacophonous noise from guitars, crash cymbals, induced noises, and general distortion, makes for a listen that is extremely one-of-a-kind. Easy, in spite of all the edginess and noise, ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ might be the most accessible piece of noise punk I’ve ever heard.

Backed by the force of both Ethan Tilbury’s upright bass and Diana Herrera’s drums, and produced by Andy Dmytryshyn and with a mastering job done by Jamie King, the ensemble behind ‘You Cannot Get to Heaven’ have seemingly nailed down some of the most infectious punk vibes of 2024.
